Concept

Visual Elements 

In attempt to give a contemporary sense to the traditional and historical site Arima Onsen, I choose to create a logo that is elegant, minimal and reflects the concept of hot spring water. The final draft of logos only use two typefaces that overlap with each other, and a simple icon that represents the hot spring within ripples. 

The minimal representations of the features in Arima： the calabash,  raven, maples, water, ripples, hot spring temple, landscapes and shrines. Arima Onsen is a site that Buddhism left a deep influence. In ancient times, Buddhism believers will clean their bodies in the water as an attempt to purify their spirits before they went to a temple; gradually, this tradition continued and enable the hot spring culture become popular. Therefore, people can still see a lot of temples and elements of Buddhism in Arima. I took inspirations from those natural elements to create icons that follow a sense of Zen culture and Buddhism.

Using AR technique to let the visitors enjoy art and creativities is full of fun. I plan to use AR to let the visitors get touch with Jaemin Lee's works around the Arima region. I want to make the Arima region as a canvas for everyone. Hence, the exhibition is not a common one with a limited space, it is an interactive experience for all the people to enjoy through walking around the town. 

金の湯 Gin no Yu is a public bath site in Arima Onsen. I choose this public bath as the second space for our  spatial arrangement. Because Gin no Yu is remarkable for providing Arima Onsen's perfect water- the golden water.  In order to let people relax with their bath experiences, I use ripples as the primary visual elements through the whole architectures. It is not overwhelming, but to create a hint of what water looks like when people notice such elements.
