X-ray imaging is an indispensable part of modern medicine. Not only do the radiographic images taken before a surgical intervention play an important role, but so does intra-operative imaging. It allows the surgeon to check the surgery result while still in the operating theatre and to make any necessary corrections. The installation of this kind of equipment in theatres is often expensive, so Fujifilm developed the FDR Cross – a functional, technically mature and mobile solution – as an alternative. This system offers fluoroscopic and radiographic image capture for pre-, intra- and post-operative imaging in a single platform. X-ray tubes and detectors are affixed to both ends of the C-arm, enabling them to visually capture the operating table in a semicircle. The FDR Cross’s highly manoeuvrable and ergonomic design allows effortless changes between image capture methods. It also has three removable and interchangeable detector panels covering various clinical imaging needs. On-board battery power for up to eight hours ensures completely cordless operation and flexible positioning, even during longer surgical procedures. Omnidirectional front wheels maximise manoeuvrability in the frequently cramped conditions of operating theatres. An easy-access grip also makes precise positioning possible. “We selected the FDR Cross for its unique combination of design, innovation and user friendliness,” said the jurors. “The innovative construction of this hybrid model allows medical professionals to quickly exchange panels in three sizes, which improves the product’s user friendliness. The cord-free imaging system and its wireless monitor cart are very well thought out and eliminate the need for cable management in crowded operating theatres. The FDR Cross offers unprecedented manoeuvrability and mobility, setting new design, innovation and convenience benchmarks for diagnostic imaging systems.” The unit has a very compact construction and a clever colour concept: the control panels and monitors are framed in black to maximise visibility, whereas the silver body seamlessly blends into any surgical environment.
