UmBrush was an interactive installation that allowed users to draw with light on the outdoor physical environment. The interface station was placed in a hallway, and the image was projected from the roof of the building onto the umbrellas in the outdoor eating area of Art Center College of Design cafe.Below is the text that was written on the station podium: What happens when you retrieve these umbrellas from the darkness and paint them with light?They come forward from the shadows and begin to dance, reactivating a space that is so visible throughout the day becomes invisible at night . This transformation is only possible with the help of your hand.Go ahead. Paint, draw, write...anything.
