When carrying out a rescue on ice, the lack of bearing capacity usually makes it dangerous and difficult to reach victims who are trapped. Most of the traditional ice rescue equipment comprise ropes and life buoys. Not only is this method time-consuming, laborious, and dangerous, it also creates a secondary risk of rescuers falling into the water themselves.
As an alternative solution, Ice Rescue Board uses independent rotatable disc components on both ends, with a gripping rope added all around. Using the rotatable disc on each end (depending on the direction), the rescuer will move forward in a rotational movement until the board reaches the trapped victim. The victim then grabs on to the rope and the handle of the rescue board to get onto the board. Other rescuers on shore will use the ropes to pull in the floating board where people are safely held.
This combination will enable rescuers to move more efficiently on ice. Since the overall material is light, anti-slip materials are added to the corresponding parts to ensure the safety of rescue. Another feature of the board is that it can be folded into a quarter of its size for more portability or to occupy less space when not in use. To use the board, simply open up the bottom, and then the two sides, to stretch it across the ice.
